Introduction

The Ecole Internationale de Mime Corporel Dramatique is an institution of further education in gestural theatre. Each year we receive students from diverse backgrounds and countries, all seeking to deepen their understanding of physical theatre and to assimilate the essential fundamentals of the art of Corporeal Mime of Etienne Decroux.

La formation dispensée par l’École de Mime est diplomante et reconnue par l’Etat au niveau III (RNCP)*
Niveau 5 Européen, Diplôme d’Artiste Mime.

The training offered by the Ecole de Mime is certified and recognised by the state at Level III (RNCP).
European Level 5, Diploma as Mime Artist.

(The National Framework of Qualification (NFQ) Level 3 is equi-
valent with the European Framework of Certification (ECF) Level 5).

Our school offers teaching based on a training in Corporeal Mime, the technique of Etienne Decroux, training in Theatrical Acrobatics and in Classical Dance.
We intend to work on the fundamental principals of Corporeal Mime, introducing the students to its analysis of movement, and its philosophical precepts.

This training grounds itself in the foundational themes of this art, such as:
  • Segmentation of the body, articulation of movement in the service of dramatic expression
  • Work on rhythm and muscular comedy.
  • Study into counterweights, the semblance of effort.
  • Work on the displacement of the body in space.
  • Stylised walks (character walks)
  • The study of dynamic figures to sensitise the students to work on rhythm and form.
  • Theatrical acrobatics
